Chocolate Festival and Kayla's Cakes

I had the opportunity to compete in the Cache Valley Chocolate Festival Charity event for Planned Parenthood. I was so excited for weeks before and have been practicing like crazy! The inspiration for my cake was my sister Jaisha's birthday present to me. She made me this most beautiful cake on my 23rd birthday. It was chocolate cake covered in white fondant, drizzled with chocolate ganache and dotted with chocolate covered strawberries. She is so talented and this cake was my very favorite creation of hers. While I don't use fondant merely because of the taste, I did manage to make a fun swirled look with the cream cheese frosting I put on this beautiful expression of art. It was a red velvet, chocolate cake mix with the cream cheese frosting and then chocolate covered strawberries to add that certain “Valentines Day” feel. I named it “Valentine's Night Special”.That name might be a little cheesy  but honestly, who wouldn't want this decadent cake on the most romantic night of the year? I was a bundle of nerves the whole day preparing for it and John was with me and supportive 100% of the way! I couldn't ask for a better husband :). He has never doubted me, always supported me and will give me the best advice for improvement and the sweetest compliments for success. I just love him!I didn't win or even place but for a first timer, having my cake go for $30 for a silent auction isn't half bad!  This is a start of something that I want to grow. I found something I love to do and am good at. I feel pretty lucky! If anyone needs a cake in the Cache Valley area, now you have my card.

Here are some pictures for you all to enjoy.

Here is my presentation with the business cards. I made cake balls for the 500+ people to sample.

I designed this business card myself!

I'm not going to lie, this made my mouth water.

He is my number one in every way!
